Subject:New admin options in your HarmonySite

Dear HarmonySite administrator,

We've added some new administrator-level options to your HarmonySite...

1.  Logging Changes / Audit Trail

Have you ever wondered who changed a member's email address in the database?  Or an event's venue?  Or the expiry date on a fee schedule?  Up until now there was no way of knowing.  An audit trail (a log of changes to the database) simply was not kept.

Well, now you can know, as follows...

  1. Click the "Log Changes" link from the screenshot above (on the Admin Dashboard)
  2. On the next page, you'll most likely get a message telling you that a database table needs to be created.  You can do that by following one link and clicking a button.  Very easy.
  3. Then return to the previous page.  The warning message is gone, replaced by a list of all the database tables in your system.
  4. Click the "enable" link for each database table that you want to track changes for.
  5. (optional)  If you want someone to receive an email every time a change is made to that table, then click the "change" link next to the words "Not sent" in the Email column, and enter the email address of the person who should be notified of changes.

You can also view any historical changes, simply by clicking the "View" link in the right-hand column.

All changes are stored in the "Update Logs" database table.

2.  Visually Impaired Settings

If you have someone in your group that is visually impaired, they can improve their experience of the website by visiting the "Visually Impaired settings" page (in the screenshot above).

It's a pretty simple "on/off" switch.  And it doesn't do very much - it simply make some of the data on web pages that's presented in tabular format more keyboard-friendly, and not so much "mouse-based".  It's small, but it should help them.

Note that if the visually impaired person is a regular member (not an admin), they won't have access to the Admin Dashboard, so you'll need to manually share the link to that page with them.

3.  Members Area Available icons

Up until now, this link was only available when adding or updating a navigation link.  We've now made it more readily accessible by adding it to the Admin Dashboard.

4.  Font Awesome Available icons

A simple list of the "Font Awesome" icons used in the software.  Not hugely useful, but added for completeness.

Enjoy,
