Subject:New features in your HarmonySite

Dear HarmonySite administrator,

We are always working on adding new features to your HarmonySite website.  Here are the latest new features added...

1.  Revamp of the "Assessments" system (being assessed for performance-readiness on a song)

(disregard this section if your HarmonySite doesn't use the Assessments module)

The main change is that it's now possible for you to define/configure your own assessment result types (e.g. "Ready", "Provisional", etc).  There's a new administration area called "Assessment result types" - find it in the Administration drop-down list on the Members page.  There you can add/delete/change/reorder result types.  I've set up three default types:  Passed, Provisional, Complete, and Not passed.  If you have existing assessments in your system, these have been adjusted to match.

Another significant change is that all areas of the Assessments system (the Assessments page, the main Members page and the Assessments report) now all report on the LATEST assessment only.  So if a member passed a song, and then later failed it, the system would show "not passed" everywhere for that member/song.

Also, for each event in your calendar that you have nominated the "songs to be sung", there is a link on the event's page (visible to members) that shows the assessment report on those specific songs.

2.  Revamp of the "Riser Stacks" system (singers that stand on risers)

(disregard this section if your HarmonySite doesn't need this module)

Firstly, this module is now free for all our customers to use.  Up until now, if you wanted the riser stack module configured into your HarmonySite, you were required to pay a fee for this.  Because we have now recouped our development cost for this module, we are now discontinuing this fee.

If you already had the Riser Stack module in your HarmonySite, you will now find it in a different place:  It used to be that only administrators could access this module.  There's now a new icon in the main Members' set of icons, meaning that any member can now access the list of riser stacks.  Note that you still need to be an administrator in order to CHANGE any stack, but all members can now view stacks.

Note also that there is no more "Arrange" icon next to each stack on the Riser Stacks page.  You now simply click on the name of the stack to view and/or arrange it.

If you don't seem to have this module in your HarmonySite, and you would like it, then please let me know and I will add it to your site.

Other Changes

There are a few other changes...

·         There is a new "widget" for the footer area of the public-facing pages (like the existing widgets:  "Site map", "Upcoming events" and "Contact Us").  The new widget is called "Latest News".  It can be configured into your footer by clicking the little "cog" icon in the top-right corner of your HarmonySite, then clicking the "cog" icon next to "HarmonySite".  Then click the "Footer/Sidebar" tab.  Adjust the "Footer items" list.  Note that you can have a maximum of THREE widgets in the footer area!

·         There is a set of new "Admin" fields for each event in the Event Calendar, specifically for gigs/shows, such as the contact person for the gig, how much your group is getting paid, and how much you are paying your director.  You get to nominate whether regular members can see the values in these fields, or just event administrators.  To find this new set of fields, update any event and look for the new "Admin" tab.  Reading this, if you have any suggestions for more fields you'd like to see on this Admin tab, please let us know.

·         The "Songs" database has some new fields:

o   For the list of recording types (stereo, part missing, part predominant, etc), there's a new option, called "Other" - and you can specify what type it is.  Update any song to see what I mean.

o   Each song now has a "Duration" field, letting you specify how long it takes your ensemble to sing the song.  To go with this, there is also a "Print Song List" button (for members) when viewing an event.  Clicking this button will open a printable page that summarises the songs to be sung on that event, including the pitch you sing them in, the first words, and the duration of each (with a total at the bottom).

·         In the "Merchandise" database (the list of products that you have for sale), you can now specify, for each product, the access level required to see this product (just like you can with events, news items, documents, etc).  This allows you to have products that are for sale only to members (not to the public).

·         If you use the "Buddies" system, there is now a report available that shows who everyone's buddies are.  This report is not enabled in your system by default.  If you would like it to be, please let me know.

·         Any many other small changes and bug-fixes.

More changes are coming soon.

As usual, if you have any questions about any of this, or need help getting it working on your HarmonySite, please let me know.

Cheers,

Mark Virtue
